The Pre-Cell Telephone

100 years ago, when I was a kidlet in school, we watched a show on television about technology in the future. All of it was so out of the realm of recognition, I remember laughing about how absurd it all was.

One of the main ones was the idea of a video-phone.

My friends and I talked about the possibility and we all said we would NEVER use a video phone. How could we talk in the middle of the night when we looked our worst? Or when we woke up before we brushed our teeth?

The thought horrified us.

Yet, here we are, Zooming all over the place, using our phones as video screens, brushed teeth or not.

Amazing how phone technology has progressed in my lifetime.

Could scented phones be far behind?

  1. Smell-o-phone. I remember John Waters did a film where scratch and sniff cards were handed out to patrons. When a number flashed on the screen, the moviegoer would scratch the circle corresponding to that number and one could smell the featured odor. John Waters, Divine, you can only imagine.
Truth is, I miss those old black rotary dial phones. Reminds me of my Grandma

  2. I remember that movie!! Polyester! 1981.

The scratch and sniffs were hilarious AND horrific… I can almost smell the shit/fart now.

I loved rotary phones, too. Reminds me of my childhood. HA! 🤣

    Thanks for the reminder!
